Sweeter sweetcorn

sweeter than sweet

I hadn’t cooked sweetcorn at home for a long time before today. As is probably the case with most other people, I usually enjoy sweetcorn on the BBQ or at Yakiniku.

However, walking around the supermarket the other day, I found some fresh sweetcorn (still in the husk) and decided to buy them. I had wanted to try some new vegetables recently.

I got them out of the fridge today and remembered a recipe our nanny used to use. It is boiling the sweetcorn in sugar and salt. You add enough sugar and salt so you can taste it in the boiling liquid. Then boil as normal, taking care not to overcook them. Then take them out and serve with a little butter.

Maybe a lot of people cook sweetcorn this way, but my girlfriend said her mother always used to cook them with just salt. She said she doesn’t really like corn on the cob, but does after today.

Do you cook sweetcorn with sugar? Do you have any other recipes for corn, other than just boiling it.

If you do, I would love to know!

I often use sweetcorn in summer and I eat it today. I always toast it for 10-15 min, so I cook it by toaster. The sweet is kept without extra sugar. I really recommend it for the busy people.

    Hello Dolphin, hello Masa.

This is my first comment. I am not good at English. Please excuse my poor English.

I never tried to cook corn in the toaster. I have heard for first time! I will try it soon.
Do you spread any butter on corn?

    Hi kaori,
I also got this information from my friend, after that I often buy sweetcorn. But I sometimes forget it in the toaster because too easy, in the morning I find it when I toast a piece of bread (>_<)! You’d better be careful like this!! Well, I eat it as it is, I don’t use any butter but I think if you like, it’s up to you q(^^)p
